Youth Excursion - North Dakota Trip
Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, and out of concern for the safety and health of our communities, the 2020 Youth Excursion has been Cancelled.
SDREA Youth Excursion
The Youth Excursion is a fun-filled trip where hundreds of students from South Dakota will travel to Bismarck North Dakota on a “power supply adventure.” Each year we partner with the South Dakota Rural Electric Association to send several students from the LREA territory on this four-day, fun and FREE trip! Students will travel with chaperones to Bismarck where they will spend a few days learning about our power supply and how the cooperative works. They will have the rare opportunity to tour the Synfuel Plant, Freedom Coal Mine and Antelope Valley Power Plant. While the days spent learning are fun and adventurous, the evenings are full of fun as well; evenings are spent swimming, shopping and cruising the river on the Lewis and Clark Riverboat.
This trip is free to students whose parents or legal guardians are current members of Lake Region Electric Association. Lake Region Electric Association will provide transportation, lodging, meals and sightseeing. Students are encouraged to bring spending money with them for shopping and incidentals.
To participate in this program, students must complete the 2020 Youth Excursion Application and return it to the LREA office, attention Laura London, before April 1, 2020.
